1 Killed, 1 Hospitalized In Bethlehem Crash, Police Say

One driver's dead and another is in the hospital following a crash early on Saturday morning, Oct. 20, Bethlehem Township Police announced.

The "serious' two vehicle happened at the intersection of Freemansburg Avenue and 7th Street in the township at 2:35 a.m., police detailed in the release.

Arriving officers found the driver of a blue Volkswagen Passat had died, they were the sole occupant of the vehicle. Their identity is being withheld until released by the Northampton County Coroner’s Office. 

The 24-year-old driver of a black Volkswagen Jetta involved in the crash was taken to a local hospital serious injuries, the police explained. The Nazareth man was also the sole occupant of his vehicle.

The roadway was closed for approximately seven hours while the crash was investigated. 

Police determined that the Jetta was driving west on Freemansburg Avenue while the Passat was going south on 7th Street. 

The crash remains under investigation.
